Elections: Who Should You Vote For?

Election is approaching in Nigeria and politicians, party candidates are campaigning all over the country. There are hundreds of candidate if not thousands for various elective post in the government from Local to National level.

One important issue about elections in Africa is that people don’t vote. The numbers of voters in proportion to the number of legible voters is very alarming.

One of the few and flimsy excuse the would be voters will give us that is that “votes don’t count so why vote?”

If you are an eligible voter, you should vote. It’s your civic right and a responsible voter will.

Who Should You Vote For?

I will start with who you shouldn’t vote for;

There are certain individuals that has been in certain post at some time, they failed woefully as their performance was below par, such people shouldn’t be voted into office.

Some candidates are not medically fit. Yes no one knows tomorrow, even a medically fit person can die now but we shouldn’t take chances. Any candidate to be elected should be healthy.

Any candidates that is know for always uttering divisive and hating comments/speeches shouldn’t be voted into any office.

Don’t vote for a candidates because they are offering money or goodies

Don’t vote for a candidates that has been there and didn’t not performed, they don’t deserve another term in office.

Don’t vote for candidates that are always criticizing the government without providing/suggesting a solution on their own.

Don’t vote for candidates that incite/encourage violence.

While the personal lives of candidates are personal. A wise man known that who a man is in his private space he will be on the outside; Don’t vote for a candidate who is know to be bad, unserious and lazy in his/her private sphere.

Now, this is who you should vote for:

Vote for a candidate that has credibility among those that knows him/her.

Vote for a candidate who is healthy enough to carry out his/her duties effectively and efficiently.

Vote for a candidate whose yea is yea and nay is nay.

Vote for a candidate who has truly articulate his/her manifesto to you verbally without reading from anywhere and you are truly convinced.

Vote for someone who you believe in.

There will be many candidates in The forthcoming elections in Nigeria and other countries; choosing and voting in the right candidates is going to help in the enjoying of the dividends of democracy.

Vote wisely and vote rightly.
