If you are just like every other ordinary people, you have no idea what motivates you. You do not know why you want to wake up each morning, and you do not know what you want to do with your life. Ordinary people wake up each morning because they have to go to work. And the reason they get to work is that they want to get paid. They want to pay their bills and expenses. In other words, they are working for the money. This is why when they have a choice; they choose to run away from their work. Are you serving God because of what you can gain from Him or you are serving God because that’s the purpose you were created for? Do you really love God or you are just afraid of going to hell? God wants willing, wholehearted service. He never forces us to do his will. It is Satan who will stop at nothing to pressure or entice people into doing his will. In connection with serving God, the Bible does speak of obligation, commandments, requirements, and so forth. ( Ecclesiastes 12:13; Luke 1:6 ) Yet, our prime motive for serving God is that we love him. ​ Regardless of how much Paul spent himself in God’s service, he knew that this would mean nothing at all ‘if he did not have love.’ ( 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 ) When Bible writers refer to Christians as slaves of God, they are not referring to abject servitude based on coercion. Today, churches have fellowship halls, fellowship dinners, and fellowship retreats, but very few have real fellowship. Yet for a church that seeks to be guided in principle and practice by the New Testament, fellowship is very important. Apostle Paul encourages believers not to neglect fellowship with other brethren.
