He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. - John 8:7
Supporters and opposition folks have been throwing banter s at each another on the social media, it really go to show the depth of believers we have today.
While I don't know neither have I confirm if the allegations are true or not , there are some things we should know as believers:
1. No Human is beyond redemption and no human is infallible. The way some of us hold men and women of God (commendable though) is really high, we see them as demi-god and we have unconscious come to accept the fact that they infalliable. Know this, a pastor is firstly a human. Elisha was a man of God yet he killed little children. Samson was anointed yet he was adulterous. David was a man after God's heart yet he committed some of the heinous crimes known.
2. As long as you are a believer, you are an anointed son or daughter of God. The men of God (pastors, bishops, prophets etc) are not the only anointed ones. Every child of God is an anointed one.
3. Don't ever Jump into conclusions: no matter how true or false an allegations might sound, never jump into conclusion, take time to find out the real truth. Investigate the matter. Don't be one sided in finding out what happened.
4. Be careful before you criticize an ordained minister of the gospel. Yeah I said all believers anointed but there are orderliness in the kingdom. You don't just criticize an ordained pastor simply because you heard something bad about him. Truth is even when they do bad, condemnation is not always the next thing, redemption should be. Criticizing ministers of the gospel is dangerous especially those God has placed above it. Even when they err, pray for them. Criticizing them is never the answer.
5. This is not easy to say but I will always urge sexual crimes victims to firstly report to the authorities of the land (Police, human rights NGOs, etc) before coming to the media . A media trial doesn't equate a competent court of law.
6. We must be wise in handling certain sensitive matters when it comes to leaders because of the followers. If care is not taken, matters handle insensitive might scatter the followers and cause them go backward.
7. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We must never be a stumbling block to justice or been seen against it simply involved our loved ones, family, friends, leaders etc.
8. Blackmailing & revenge is wrong and dangerous. Retaliating will always make you bitter. Learn to forgive, learn to let go and then you will enjoy peace. Forgiveness comes before peace.
9. We should be mindful of what we do now because it can come to hunt us in the future. No one has a clean past but we must be aware that there are consequences to our actions (past, present and future).
10. Rape victims goes through emotional trauma. Some goes Through depression. It's never easy for them. Hereford we should be sensitive to them. Asking a rape victim while she or he didn't report when it happened is insensitive to ask. Nobody plan to be rape, the stigma and shame associated with it alone would make one to stay off the radar.
Be nice to rape victims and be part of their healing process. Help them to heal rightly.
In conclusion,
an allegations remain nothing but allegations unless proven. But nevertheless before you judge, let those without sin be the first to judge.
May the wisdom of God continue to guide us.
