15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
16. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
- 2 Timothy 2:15-16
Do you know you can justify almost every doctrine you practiced in the Bible, good or bad? I can be killing people and I will simply refer you to the Bible. I can be doing some weird things and you will found it in the Bible. Elisha committed genocide and we could simply back him up that the spirit of God was upon him. So many weird things people do and you will be shocked they will back it up in the Bible.
Recently the issue of tithe has divided the Christian community and you will find out that virtually all the schools of thought back up their. argument with bible verses.
Paul admonish Timothy to study to show himself approved and how does he do that? By rightly dividing the word of truth. Many folks are dividing the word of truth but in the wrong way. So many doctrines have sprung up simply because they have wrongly divide the word of truth.
A doctrine says, God will curse you if you don't pay tithe, another doctrine says Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the law. So you wonder which is right? Rightly dividing the word of truth.
In this last days, as Christian, if you are not firmed, you will be tossed from one angle to another. This is how fake prophets and devilish teachers defraud and lead the people astray. Jesus warn that if care is not taken, the very elect will be deceived.
Things to take note is this:
God will never contradict himself, what He says is what He do and what He do is what He says.
Every scriptures must be interpret in the light of Jesus. If it's not pointing you to Jesus, is probably minor. The only theme of the Bible is Jesus. No one else and nothing else but Jesus. It's all about Him.
When certain verses are not clear to us, as believers, we have the Holy Spirit and He will guide us. The Holy Spirit is the teacher of truth. There is never any confusion about the Word of God, rather the confusion stems from the wrongly dividing of the truth.
Get this right: We saw so many ways God relates with men in the days of the law but when Jesus came, He came to reveal Who God is. Throughout the Old Testament, I have seen people describe God as a man of a war, as a God whose wrath consume the whole nations, God will inflict someone with an evil spirit, a God who will allow the devil to test His children. But when people ask you who is God? Simply point to Jesus, everything He does and stand for, that is Who God is.
So many doctrines are still going to spring up and of course backed by biblical verses, like John said, test all spirits. Likewise be careful of some doctrines, anything you don't understand, the Holy Spirit is ever present to clarify it to you.
Remember everything should be centered on Jesus. In Him we live, we breathe, we so mighty things.
I might write second part on doctrinal issues.
Good Morning and a beautiful Thursday to you.
