Reaching Out...

As iron sharpens iron, so does a person sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17

The past week, posts on Thriving Words blog has been centred on Depression, the causes and how to prevent it. Over the course of this past week, different folks reached out to me, both those who are close to me and those I don't even knkw

I realize so many things, most of the folks that reached out to me look pretty okay outwardly, some have a nice job, wonderful and a beautiful smile ateast on the outside but inside of them,  it's a different world altogether. Some are surrounded by people but are so lonely. Some are going through abuse (physical and emotionally).

One question up for me, how often do we check on our friends and loved ones? I am so guilty of this (I rarely call). A call, a text, a visit could go a long way . perhaps, you haven't seen a particular friend, neighbour of yours for a while, check out why. Check on Your colleagues, your classmates, your church members. Never mind that they don't check on you. Be your neighbour's keeper.

As a leader, are you keeping tabs on your followers and members? Depression is real, loneliness kills faster than you can imagine, so many seemingly happy people go through a lot on the inside. You will be saving lives just by reaching out.

As much as we pray for the depressed, we must learn to reach out. I reached out to someone only to find out the person is depressed and at a very low point. You never couldn't tell unless you reached  out. Don't be developed over by the smiles on people face, many people go through a lot on the Inside.

What Can You Do? Invite someone over for dinner, have picnic. Pray together, share together, Rejoice together and cry together.

We were made for each other. We help each other, we celebrate each other, we build up each other, that is the way God made it.

There are millions and millions of reasons for people to be depressed, perhaps You could be the bearer of good news and joy into their lives, that is only if you reached out.

If you are going through a lot or you are in a challenging period and you need someone to talk to, kindly send a mail to thrivekonsult@gmail.com If you don't mind us calling you back, do drop your name and phone in the mail as well..

There is light at the end of the tunnel, don't go low, come up and aim high....

Good morning and God bless you.... 😊😇🤗

Music: I Want to Live (Download)

I have another favourite song from the stable of Dunamis Ministry led by Pastor Paul Eneche.  The song is titled I want to live where you are. The song blesses me so much and I am sure you will be blessed by it. Below is the song lyrics and also a link where you can download the song. Verse 1 I want to  to live lord in the world of your Glory I want to live lord in the place where you are To stay away from the pressures & cares of this life. To stay away Lord from the ways of the world. (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to stay oh Lord in your resting place Lead me away from things that keep me from you Separate me from the things Lord that hinders me. (3*) Verse 2 Oh Lord my heart is longing for your precious presence To receive Lord the light of your countenance So I can escape the darkness that covers the Earth So I can escape Lord the path of error (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to sta

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me

Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus. No wonder some folks suffered embarrassment like the sons of Sceva.  When
