Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” - Matthew 22:16-21
Those in authority are appointed by God; for the sake of conscience, and in order to secure the execution of the laws. As they are appointed by God, the tax which is needful for their support becomes an act of homage to God, an act performed in obedience to his will.
It's is our civic duty to pay our tax to the government. It is also a godly act because God put them in authority.
Christians must not use any trick or fraud. All smuggling, dealing in contraband goods, withholding or evading duties, is rebellion against the express command of God. Thus honest neighbours are robbed, who will have to pay the more; and the crimes of smugglers, and others who join with them, are abetted. It is painful that some professors of the gospel should countenance such dishonest practices. The lesson here taught it becomes all Christians to learn and practise, that the godly in the land will always be found the quiet and the peaceable in the land.
Jesus has shown that Christianity is not an enemy of civil government.
It is a sin when we evade tax or we run foul of the laws of the land concerning taxation.
To pay tax is our civic responsibility and it is godly to pay tax.
It's another glorious day, I ask, have you pay your tax? If not, please do.
Good Morning and A Happy Wednesday to You
