Lessons From The Sons Of Sceva - Part 3

Still on lessons gleaned from the story of the seven sons of Sceva:

The problem faced by the seven sons of Sceva was that they had no power over the demon they confronted. They were not apostles. More than that, as religious as they were, they had no relationship with God. They were not believers in Christ. They did not possess the power or the presence of the Holy Spirit. There was nothing in them or their words that would cause a demon to pay them the slightest heed. One proud demon in particular seems to have been fed up with their stage show and gave them a beating they would remember.

Many a Christians are like that. Outside, they look like a powerful believer, they are prayer warriors but inside they are so shallow and empty. The power of God is not about being religious, that is where the seven sons missed it. You can be a church goer, tithe payer, good deeds doers and still not possess the Holy Spirt of God. Have you ever wonder why demons instead of trembling at your presence rather scare you away?

At one point in Jesus’ ministry, He sent out 72 disciples to whom He had given His authority over demons. When they came back to report to the Lord what had happened, they were excited about being able to exorcise evil spirits: “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name” (Luke 10:17). Jesus immediately provided some perspective: “Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (verse 20). What is greater than authority over demons? Knowing God is your Father and heaven is your home.

It's not about casting out demons, that is minor, our relationship with God is the major. Do you have a relationship with Jesus? Forget your church activities or religious obligations, do you really and truly have a close relationship with Jesus? Only you could answer that. If you are not sure or the answer is no, you are just like the sons of Sceva, who claim to cast out demons with the. And if Jesus until they were disgraced and embarrassed.

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus. No wonder some folks suffered embarrassment like the sons of Sceva.  When
