Correlation Without Causality

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12:2

There is a post by a friend which I have re-posted below. It is about so many things we have all been victims of and that we spread from generation to generation.

Kindly read and re-read this post and allow it to sink in:

When you bump your head into a door or a stool, it really hurts at first but over the next couple of seconds, the pain subsides...not for any external reason in particular, that’s just the nature of pain; it subsides over time.

When we have little kids and they bump their heads, or any other part of their body, we carry them to soothe them and in addition, it’s not uncommon to “smack” the offending obstacle and say “naughty door/floor/table/nanny”. Truth is, by the time you arrive to “smack” the object, the pain, by its nature, is already subsiding anyways.

It all looks cute until you realize that by doing that, we inadvertently create neural pathways/associations for the kids. As you smack the object/person, albeit jokingly, for the child, the pain is subsiding as the smacking is happening. Correlation without causality; But hey, kids don’t know that and all that happens is a subconscious interpretation:
“when in pain, inflict pain on the offending object (others) to soothe yourself”

Inadvertently, we teach children to retaliate to feel better about their own pain. We teach humans that inflicting pain is soothing. We teach that violence is soothing.

Of course it’s not the intention, but that’s what we do.

This is just one example of the very many things we have all been victims of and that we spread from generation to generation.

This is how we miss the mark/purpose or how we transfer the error (some will say sin) from generation to generation. It’s inadvertent, but real and tangible. We aren’t as “innocent” as we’d like to think.

This is why the solution is a renewal of the mind, the creation of a new species of humans with a mentality different from what majority will accept and understand. This is why there must be a conscious effort to accept the new man/mind.

It’s a choice you must make.

Music: I Want to Live (Download)

I have another favourite song from the stable of Dunamis Ministry led by Pastor Paul Eneche.  The song is titled I want to live where you are. The song blesses me so much and I am sure you will be blessed by it. Below is the song lyrics and also a link where you can download the song. Verse 1 I want to  to live lord in the world of your Glory I want to live lord in the place where you are To stay away from the pressures & cares of this life. To stay away Lord from the ways of the world. (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to stay oh Lord in your resting place Lead me away from things that keep me from you Separate me from the things Lord that hinders me. (3*) Verse 2 Oh Lord my heart is longing for your precious presence To receive Lord the light of your countenance So I can escape the darkness that covers the Earth So I can escape Lord the path of error (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me

Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus. No wonder some folks suffered embarrassment like the sons of Sceva.  When
