Should a Christian have a tattoo on his / her body?

Yesterday, i came across a question on tattoos for Christians. It's kind of controversial and divisive. Respected clergywoman Joyce Meyer shocked everyone when she said she was considered getting one.

So, we come to the simple question, should a Christian have a tattoo on his / her body? Is getting a tattoo on ones body sinful or not? What exactly is the stand of God on the issue of tattoo.

Some Christian folks (mostly conservatives) believe getting a tattoo is a sin. They based their argument on a Bible verse from Leviticus 19:28, which says,"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.".

Personally, I don't like tattoo and don't think I will get one anytime sooner. But I strongly believe there is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo. I'm more of the view that the motive behind the tattoo is mor of a concern. Leviticus 19:28 is specifically dealing with pagans religious rituals. God doesn't want His people to mix up any of the pagan ritualistic stuff with what He wants from them.

Reading the whole chapter of Leviticus 19 will open our eyes of understanding. Anyone getting a tattoo really needs to ask themselves, why am I getting this and what is the meaning of this tattoo? Is the tattoo an expression of witchcraft, idolatry or pagan symbolism? If so, as Christians, we need to reconsider...

Seeing people with tattoos is normal. Not everyone has them and there is no judgment of each other, tattoo or not. I believe that God is much more concerned with our hearts, than He is with the outside appearance of a person. After all, the Bible says in Revelation19:16 that Jesus has a tattoo on His thigh, “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

The question for some still remains: Is it wrong for me to get a tattoo? I think it comes down to personal conviction and we should never try to push our personal convictions on others. Ultimately, the decision is between you and God.

Before I get a tattoo, I will ask myself 'Why am I getting a tattoo'? 'Which type of tattoo will I be having. Obviously having a satanic related tattoo is totally a no-no for me.

Apostle Paul have an advice which is ever relevant for us today "Not everything that is permissible for you is beneficial".

Do you still want to get a tattoo? Yes or no, it all depends on your personal conviction. Just make sure your motive for it is right and the tattoo itself is not a bad one or a satanic one.

The above views about tattoo is solely my opinion.

Shalom!

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me

Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus. No wonder some folks suffered embarrassment like the sons of Sceva.  When
