Watchmen...

For some reasons I decided to watch the season movie 24 that has been out for over a decade. Call me stale. Duh! isnor my fault 🙈🙈. In this post, I'd be commenting on two characters: David Palmer and Jack Bauer.

For the sake of those who haven't seen the movie, David Palmer acted the role of the president of the United States of America and he was seen to be an upright man who would always tell the truth regardless of the consequences. His integrity quotient was really high. Jack Bauer on the other hand acted the role of the director of the Counter Terrorism Unit and was seen as a guy who broke the law not fearing its consequences. However, Jack broke the law not for the fun of it, but for the greater good. Lives were at stake and the bureaucracy and sons of belial in the system would not allow results to be delivered. Therefore we can say Jack was doing the good thing by breaking the law but not the right thing, which puts his integrity to question.

In this series, David Palmer (a man of integrity) and Jack Bauer (a man of questionable character) were close. David at many times knew Jack was breaking the law but never reprimanded him because of course he was doing a good thing. The question I asked myself while watching the movie was this:

1. Why was David comfortable supporting a rogue agent Bauer? Is he truly a man of integrity?

2. If the system had many loops, why wasn't it fixed after the first terrorist attempt so that people don't have to break laws to get the good things done?

Let me address question one. Apart from the fact that Bauer was working for the greater good, I think that another plausible reason for Palmer's silence over Bauer's behavior was because he wasn't directly involved in those activities. For him, it didn't matter what others did as long as his integrity wasn't brought to question.

Many of us are like David Palmer. We would never carry micro chip into the exam but we will ask questions from the person who carried it in. We will never cheat in the exam but we will allow others to cheat without reprimanding/reporting them. We will never commit fraud but we will keep quiet about fraudulent activities going on right under us. The list is endless and I am sure you can relate.

Why do we do these things? The simple answer is this: it is not my "consign". We are less bothered about the choir master sleeping with Sister Jennifer as long as it doesn't affect our spiritual status. After all issit your salvation?

One reason there is so much impunity in the body of Christ is because of people like us. We simply look away! One reason why corruption has eaten so deep into the Nigerian system is because of people like us. We simply look away and let evil prevail.

We tell ourselves every man will stand alone before God on the day of Judgment and answer for his deeds. However, we have forgotten quickly what the Bible says in Ezekiel 3:15-17 (MSG): "Son of man, I’ve made you a watchman for the family of Israel (your house, school, church, workplace). Whenever you hear me say something, warn them for me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You are going to die,'and you don’t sound the alarm warning them that it’s a matter of life or death, they will die and it will be your fault. I’ll hold you responsible. But if you warn the wicked and they keep right on sinning anyway, they’ll most certainly die for their sin, but you won’t die. You’ll have saved your life.

Friends we are watchmen. The life of those committing evil/sin is worth much more to God than our selfish motives. It is important to mention that it is wrong to sound a warning to someone committing sin just because you want to save yourself on judgment day. Mbok! it doesn't work like that 😂😂. That will be hypocrisy. You should actually do this because you know that it is the desire of the Father to see that men turn from their wicked ways and come to Christ. You should do it because you love them so much and you can't imagine them in hell.

Our Christianity/integrity/character is questionable if we are comfortable watching evil prevail. May God help us us. Selah!

Music: I Want to Live (Download)

I have another favourite song from the stable of Dunamis Ministry led by Pastor Paul Eneche.  The song is titled I want to live where you are. The song blesses me so much and I am sure you will be blessed by it. Below is the song lyrics and also a link where you can download the song. Verse 1 I want to  to live lord in the world of your Glory I want to live lord in the place where you are To stay away from the pressures & cares of this life. To stay away Lord from the ways of the world. (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to stay oh Lord in your resting place Lead me away from things that keep me from you Separate me from the things Lord that hinders me. (3*) Verse 2 Oh Lord my heart is longing for your precious presence To receive Lord the light of your countenance So I can escape the darkness that covers the Earth So I can escape Lord the path of error (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me

Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus. No wonder some folks suffered embarrassment like the sons of Sceva.  When
