Misconceptions About Forgiveness

If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you. - Matthew 6:14-15

We continue on our study of Forgiveness. 
There are a lot of misunderstandings and misconceptions about forgiveness. Yesterday I share what forgiveness really is, today we study what forgiveness is not; 

  • Forgiveness does not mean we pretend that it never happen. We must understand that forgiveness is not the same as ignoring the hurt.
  • It's one things to forgive and it's another thing to forget. Forgiveness is not forgetting the offence. Sometimes forgetting takes time. Forgive and forget is no alway a reality.
  • Forgiveness doesn't mean you should condole what is wrong and bad. You can forgive and offender without excusing the offence.
  • Forgiveness is not conditional. You dont demand beforehand you forgive.
  • Forgiveness is not based on the actiona of them offender. We forgive regardless of whether the offender has ask for forgiveness or not.
  • Forgiveness doesn't mean you should rely and trust the offender again. You must be wise in your dealing with them next time
Forgiveness is not about changing the past, it’s about changing the future. Forgiveness accepts and addresses the past but focuses on the future. It looks toward a future of healing and hope.

Song: These Walls

You are good and do good;....  - Psalm 119:68  Few months back, I came across an inspiring song by Jason David who happens to be a pastor.  He was diagnosed with cancer. After a year-long fight with cancer that claimed much of his tongue, Pastor Jason David refuses to stop singing.
