Then Jesus told them, "A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family."
- Mark 6:4
When God has a message to give to you, you must simply not focus on the Messenger to the extent of discrediting him/her.
God can use any body. RAhab was known as a prostitute yet she was used to help the spies (Joshua and Caleb). Don't discredit the message because of the Messenger. Yes you might know the Messenger but you definitely you don't know the Message.
Jesus warn about this familiarity when He said 'a Prophet has no honour in his home town". Some many folks has missed it simply because they disregarded the message from a known Messenger. No matter what you might have know about a Messenger, never discard the message.
The best way to verify a message is to prayerfully discern it.
The person you don't regard might be the one God will use for your. The message is important than the Messenger, so focus on the message rather than disregard the messenger.
Perhaps, you knew your pastor for a very long time and you are allowing that familiarity to breed disregard. You would be missing the blessing of the message of the Lord through him/her.
Be humble enough too respect everyone known or unknowns and be wise enough to discern. The message heard.
It's a good Sunday morning. Do have a happy Sunday.
