Christianity: Why Does God Allow Evil?

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 
- Romans 5:12

Jane has a 4 months old baby that was recently diagnose with cancer. She is finding hard to believe God exist and would allow her baby to have cancer. Doe is an upcoming Gospel singer who was involved in an accident. His spinal cord got broken and he couldn't walk again. He is struggling to come to terms that God would allow such a terrible Accident to happen to him despite him been a Christian.

There are many more examples like that. Atheist believes that if a loving God truly exist, He would have intervene in the world affairs; but they are wrong. Because evil exist doesn't mean God doesn't. 

When God created man, He gave man freewill, the liberty to make a choice. We would have become robot if that freedom is taken away from us.  God is also a principled God. He can do anything doesn't mean He will do anything.

Most terrible things that happen are mostly as a result of our wrong choices. Imagine when an AS blood group folks marry each other, they probably might give birth to a child with SS blood group. Such child will go through unnecessarily pains because of the mistakes of the parents. We can blame God for that. That are consequences for every choice we make.

Some would point to natural disaster and terrorism as another evil in this world. To fully understand this is to know the 'fall of man'.  Because of the fall, the world now is abnormal. Things are not in the state that they should be in. Man, as a result of the fall, has been separated from God. Nature is not always kind to man and the animal world can also be his enemy. There is conflict between man and his fellowman. None of these conditions were true before the fall. Any solution that might be given to the problems mankind faces must take into consideration that the world as it stands is not normal.

Christians have a justification for fighting evil, immorality and corruption. The world was not designed with evil in mind and the believer has a real basis for fighting social ills. He is not following the belief that whatever is, is right. The Christian does not condone wrongdoing by claiming that it is God’s world, neither does he assume that everything that happens is agreed to by God. God does not desire evil nor does he ever condone it. He hates evil, and the Christian also is not only to despise evil, he is obligated to do something about it. Even though sin is real, it is not something that the believer accepts as the way things ought to be. By identifying with Jesus, the believer has a duty to call things wrong that are wrong and to speak out when evil is overtaking good. The Christian is not fighting against God, by fighting social problems. Natural disasters, crime, and terrorism should not be the accepted order of things, because they were never meant to be .

We might not fully understand why evil is still allowed but in Christianity, we known God is all wise and all powerful and He is a good God. Some happenings are just beyond our human comprehension. 

Tommorrow, we look at if God exist, how do I get to experience and know Him myself and not necessarily because someone just told me about Him.

Song: These Walls

You are good and do good;....  - Psalm 119:68  Few months back, I came across an inspiring song by Jason David who happens to be a pastor.  He was diagnosed with cancer. After a year-long fight with cancer that claimed much of his tongue, Pastor Jason David refuses to stop singing.
