Preparation: Purpose and Goals

And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
- Luke 19:2-3

We continue on what it means to prepare for the year ahead. Yesterday we saw that having an extra oil means to be prepared and ready. A wise man/woman is the one that get prepared.

The first step to preparation is having a goal. When you don't have something to achieve, you won't have any reason to plan, prepared and get ready. Having a goal is what will spur you into preparation. You must have a purpose, a reason unto what you want to prepared for. The virgins has a goal to see the groom. So their efforts was channeled into that. A goalless human is more or less a waste because nothing is pushing him.

Last year, you might have wander aimlessly. Do not try that this year. Be intentional and purposeful in what you do. Why do you want to do this? what do you want to achieve? when are you going to do it?

Don't just do things because others are doing it. Don't forget your extra oil.

We serve a God of purpose, He doesn't do things without a purpose. He created us for a purpose, in like manner, we are to be purposeful about our lives. Zacchaeus the tax collector got serious with his life, he had a goal to see Jesus and He will do almost anything to achieve that.

Imagine a football match without goalpost, such a match doesn't need training or preparation to win. You can't be a winner if you don't have a goal.

We study more tomorrow...

Share with friend and loved ones...

Good Morning and I pray the best of this year for you.

Music: I Want to Live (Download)

I have another favourite song from the stable of Dunamis Ministry led by Pastor Paul Eneche.  The song is titled I want to live where you are. The song blesses me so much and I am sure you will be blessed by it. Below is the song lyrics and also a link where you can download the song. Verse 1 I want to  to live lord in the world of your Glory I want to live lord in the place where you are To stay away from the pressures & cares of this life. To stay away Lord from the ways of the world. (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to stay oh Lord in your resting place Lead me away from things that keep me from you Separate me from the things Lord that hinders me. (3*) Verse 2 Oh Lord my heart is longing for your precious presence To receive Lord the light of your countenance So I can escape the darkness that covers the Earth So I can escape Lord the path of error (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to sta

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me

Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus. No wonder some folks suffered embarrassment like the sons of Sceva.  When
