The Proverb Challenge
Day 25
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
Proverbs 25:28 KJV
The above verse talks about Self Control. The ability to rule over your spirit is called Self Control. Solomon compare a man without self control to a city without walls. Such person is vulnerable. A city without walk is defenceless, so also is a man without control.
People who cannot control themselves are like cities without walls to protect them. Such people will ways be in trouble. They are very much opened to attack. A man without self control is helpless.
Self control is the ability to subject yourself under control. Imagine a car without the brake controls, it will eventually have an accident, so also is a man without control.
Everything about you must be under control; appetite, speech, spending, desires, anger etc. Self control require discipline. A disciplineless man can not control himself. Self control is the ability to say stop or no to certain things.
The devil is seeking for people without control because he knows such people can be manipulated.
How do we Control Our Spirit?
Through disciplined habits
Through Prayer and Fasting
Through the Word of God
The Holy Spirit is there for us. To help us to put our spirit in control.
MAIN POINT: A man without self control will eventually find himself in trouble.
