Music Lyrics - Part 2

All things to me are lawful, but all things are not profitable; all things to me are lawful, but all things do not build up;  - 1 Corinthians 10:23

I continue on my post about music lyrics. The music we listen to consciously or unconsciously over time have effect on us (negative or positive).

There are some lyrics that contradict God's Word . There is this song I like so much, sang by a popular Nigerian Artist, it has this line that goes: "Life is all about the money eeh' Jesus said "The life of a man doesn't consist in the abundance of things he owns" life is not all about money, there far more important things in life than money.

Another popular song lyrics is 'there is something that makes me come into your presence, my helper'. Truth is nothing should make us come to God, we should First and foremost worship God for who He is and not for what He can give you. If it's money that makes you go into God presence, when you are broke, you won't come.

Sometimes we sing songs because the rhythm is melodious or because it was sang by a popular singer.  Always check the songs you sing. Know the lyrics and the meaning. For songs in other languages, know the meaning. I personally don't sing song in other languages that I don't know the meaning. Church Choirs should take time to teach the congregation new songs.

We all want to worship God with music, so let's do it right. Some songs edify you, some songs is in adoration to God, some song are for your own spirit and not for God. When you want to worship God with songs, it should be a song that is all about God. Sing with understanding.

Music is soothing to the soul, music is liberation, music is food to the mind. Music is good but I rather say good music is good.

Happy Sunday to You!

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me...

Unlimited Thanksgiving

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Our thanksgiving should be unlimited. Even If we have thousands tongue to thank God with, it can never be enough. Looking all around you, you will always find a reason to thank God. This year might be so challenging for you, things might not have gone smoothly as you expected, nevertheless you have got to thank God. We do not thank God FOR difficult situation but we thank God IN difficult situation. Don't just be that person that only does thanksgiving when things are going on fine. Don't be that person that thank God seasonally. Don't be that person that thank God only when they have a 'big' testimony to share. Don't be that person that just thank God just because the preacher asked them to. God has been so good from ages past. No one else deserves our appreciation more than Him. You will be...
