Sex is a topic I've been wanting to write about and I have also been shying away from it. Maybe because of the sensitive nature or the controversies that surrounds or perharps the way sex is been viewed as in this part of the world. Yeah believe it or not, the way the West view sex is greatly different from the way Africans view it.
Sex generally means sexual intercourse . The intercourse ain't the focus today. The spotlight is on why do humans have sex and what are the consequences of having it.
One major reasons humans have sex is for pleasure. Mehn, sex is damn sweet! it's pleasuring! The climax, orgasm are really 'heavenly' experience. That's enough! right? So folks have sex in order to enjoy themselves. It's a fact.
Another reason for sex is procreation. Thanks to technology, you can make babies without sex. Not withstanding sex is primarily, manly and traditionally the way to procreate i.e. make babies.
I will stop at that two reasons (actually, that's only two I could think of for now).
I move to the consequences: the result or outcome of having sex. Actually the consequences of having sex varies from one human to the other and it could be positive or negative. A single lady or guy having sex is different from married folks having sex.
One consequences is enjoyment or endurance. You either enjoy sex of endure it. Yes. A lady that got raped obviously didn't enjoyed sex, she had to endure it. Truth is outside of rape, folks still endure sex (especially the female gender). There are many reasons for that: starting from medical reasons to psychological reasons.
Another consequences of sex is low self esteem or high self esteem. This mostly affect teens, youth and singles who are into premarital sex. It also do affect some married folks too as well... sex can either boost your self esteem or not.
The third consequences of sex is wanted or unwanted pregnancy. If you didn't protect yourself (male or female) and you have sex, there is a likelihood that the female sex partner could get pregnant. Truth is why most people want to have sex, most people do not want pregnancy, so the pregnancy becomes wanted or unwanted. Over the years, there have been a rise in the number of single mothers (or baby mama) as a result of unwanted (or unplanned) pregnancy. Some do opt for abortion which could lead to negative consequences like womb damage or even loss of life.
In conclusion, while sex is good, there is always a right time and a right way to have it. I will be writing about that tomorrow.
Stay safe and stay home...
