Lockdown Day 7 - Fake News & Wrong Information

It's excatly a week since the beginning of a state-owned lockdown in Lagos Nigeria.

Since the beginning of this outbreak, there have been so many conspiracy theories about this Covid-19 outbreak. Some very confusing, some very laughable. One of the popular one is that the Covid-19 virus is caused by the 5g technology and to worsen it, says it's not humanly transmitted but people are infected.

Sadly, some of my friends do believe this rubbish claims. I call it rubbish because they didn't do their findings to know if it's true or not, they just believe it.

Fake news and wrong information is gaining foothold during this period. We need to be careful of what we hear and believe. Technology might be use for evil purposes,  no doubt but there is no magic in all these things. Fake news, wrong information are so malicious that it literally create great fear and panic.

What we need to do as sensible people is not to help in circulating these malicious informations. Some use religious beliefs of the people to spread this fear-filled information. To be wrongly informed is to be deformed.

5g technology is an advancement in telecoms, while we may not trust every technology advancements, it do us no good to spread wrong info about it.

Folks, I urge us to observe and do our due diligence before forwarding or creating a message on social media.
