Let's Talk About SEX - Part 3

Good day to you. This is the third part of the Let's Talk About SEX series. If you missed the first two  parts, I advised you go read them, below are the links:

I will be dwelling on prevalence of pre-marital sex in this third part. Pre-marital simply means sex before marriage.

In our societies these days, abnormal has become the new normal.

Historically, premarital sex was considered a moral issue which was taboo in many cultures and considered a sin by a number of religions, but since about the 1960s, it has become more widely accepted, especially in Western countries. It's generally believed that sex before marriage reduces the value of a person (especially women). It is always expected that both partners will abstain from sex until their wedding night. Although the focus was more on women than the men.

Nowadays, all that has change. The medial, what we read, listen and watch, even our society, everyone is preaching sex before marriage is good. We do think nothing is wrong with sex before marriage. Infact some claimed you've got to have some sexual experience before marriage. Some say you've got to taste it before you marry it.

While some of these things may seem valid, they are actually far fetched from the truth. Most of the unwanted pregnancies, abortions, single motherhood, STDs etc arises mostly as a result of pre-marital sex. Abstainace is not attractive anymore.

Unfortunately, we can't eat our cake and have it. Sexual activities among young people have been increasing worldwide. Several studies in Sub-Saharan Africa have also documented high and increasing pre-marital sexual activities among young peoples.

University life is characterized, for many students, by more independence and opportunities for social mixing than before. The situation is aggravated by the overall poor socioeconomic, environment, harmful traditional practices, low contraceptive use and voluntary counseling and testing utilization. A study in Malaysia reported that young people sexual intercourse was significantly associated with socio-demographic factors like environmental factors (living away from parents) and substance use (alcohol use, cigarette smoking, drug use).

Sexual behaviors of adolescents and youth are categorized as one of the main health priorities of a society because of high prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and unwanted pregnancies. Family is an important environment that is associated with a range of social and emotional behaviors of children.
Based on the prominent role of the family in shaping sexual relations before marriage, it is necessary to educate and support families and also revise the neglected aspects.

Sex Education is needed to enlighten or young ones about the need to avoid pre-marital sex which has little to gain from and more to lose. Our society moral values is eroding away. Sexual purity is becoming abnormal. All these are dangerous pointers to what the future holds for our society. We can't afford have a sexual reckless society and not do anything about it

Tommorrow, I'll talk about some myths on sex.

Till then, stay safe and stay home.

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me...

Music: I Want to Live (Download)

I have another favourite song from the stable of Dunamis Ministry led by Pastor Paul Eneche.  The song is titled I want to live where you are. The song blesses me so much and I am sure you will be blessed by it. Below is the song lyrics and also a link where you can download the song. Verse 1 I want to  to live lord in the world of your Glory I want to live lord in the place where you are To stay away from the pressures & cares of this life. To stay away Lord from the ways of the world. (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to stay oh Lord in your resting place Lead me away from things that keep me from you Separate me from the things Lord that hinders me. Unlimited Thanksgiving

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Our thanksgiving should be unlimited. Even If we have thousands tongue to thank God with, it can never be enough. Looking all around you, you will always find a reason to thank God. This year might be so challenging for you, things might not have gone smoothly as you expected, nevertheless you have got to thank God. We do not thank God FOR difficult situation but we thank God IN difficult situation. Don't just be that person that only does thanksgiving when things are going on fine. Don't be that person that thank God seasonally. Don't be that person that thank God only when they have a 'big' testimony to share. Don't be that person that just thank God just because the preacher asked them to. God has been so good from ages past. No one else deserves our appreciation more than Him. You will be...
