Christianity, Riches and Poverty

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.  - 2 Kings 4:2

This story is really somehow funny. A prophet of the Most High God in debts? He even died in the debts and his family were to pay off the debts. It's a pathetic story

There is always this misconception we do have, I have heard things like "once you are Christian, you are automatically wealthy because Jesus became poor for you to be rich". Yet we found many Christians still poor. Is it that Jesus didn't became poor for them or what?  

A late prophet of God was a debtor and left his family in more difficult situation. Being a Christian doesn't mean you will be rich and not having any debt. If you are bad planner or you don't know how to be accountable with your money, Christian or no Christian, you will surely be in debt. If your expenses is much more than your income, you will surely be in debt. No two ways about it. No magic. It's stupid of you to think being a Christian means no matter what you do, Jesus will set you free. Jesus has already set you free, it's left for you to live free or live bounded. 

Christian businessmen and women will be busy praying to God for their business to thrive yet, they spend any little money that comes into the business. Common sense says such business will collapse. I have seen Christians pray for financial success, freedom yet they won't make proper financial choices.

No matter who you are; pastor, believer, unbeliever, atheist, pagan etc, there are some universal laws as regards to finance, if you are not properly guided, you will be poor. God doesn't perform magic, He has given us brain to think. To find solution. Everything is not prayer alone. Thank God for Elijah that God use to save the Prophet's family. Christian must learn some financial tips. God is not responsible for poverty and yes a Christian can be so poor and even be in debt. Poverty or riches is not a function of your belief, faith or religious routine.

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus.
