Religion: Heavenly Minded But Earthly Bad

Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me…” - Isaiah 29:13

I remember one of my lecturers (years back) utters a quote in the lecture hall: he says 'Don't be heavenly minded that you are not earthly good'. He was talking about Religious people.

These days, we are having more and more religious people but less followers of Jesus. Generally, we tend to believe a religious person is a righteous person just the same way we believe a simple man is a humble man.

During Jesus days, the Pharisees and the Sadducees were highly religious, they looked outwardly righteous but deep down their heart, they ain't. Many folks are like that too, they go to church every Sunday, worship God but back to the office on Monday to friday, it's another life entirely. Religious people lives a life of pretense, a life of show off. God created Man and man created religion. Religion was never from God. Jesus came not to show us religion but to show us the way of life.

Following Jesus is more than a religion, it is a way of life. Religion is all about outward appearances.

Jesus warn us to be careful. Religion is not what save people, Religion is not what heal you, religion is not a ticket to heaven. Religion is just what it is, religion. We have had enough religious people. We need faithful people.

We are not called into religion. Believers need to be careful of getting entangle in religion.

What is the use of following Jesus if our lives is not impacting those around us? I have met some religious people, they fast and pray... they are so heavenly minded but they are earthly bad. If your actions here on earth doesn't reflect the heaven you are so minded about, all what you're doing is religious activities.

Be heavenly minded (no doubt about that), but also be earthly good. Don't just be a Christian by name, birth or association, be a Christian also in deeds.

Thank God it's Friday, Good Morning and do have a great day.

Music: I Want to Live (Download)

I have another favourite song from the stable of Dunamis Ministry led by Pastor Paul Eneche.  The song is titled I want to live where you are. The song blesses me so much and I am sure you will be blessed by it. Below is the song lyrics and also a link where you can download the song. Verse 1 I want to  to live lord in the world of your Glory I want to live lord in the place where you are To stay away from the pressures & cares of this life. To stay away Lord from the ways of the world. (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to stay oh Lord in your resting place Lead me away from things that keep me from you Separate me from the things Lord that hinders me. (3*) Verse 2 Oh Lord my heart is longing for your precious presence To receive Lord the light of your countenance So I can escape the darkness that covers the Earth So I can escape Lord the path of error (2*) Chorus I want to live oh Lord just right where you are. I want to sta

Made a Way: The Story Behind The Song

Made a way is a song written and sang by award winning artist Travis Greene in the year 2015. Many people knows the song but few actually know the story behind the song. The song was actually borne out of a personal testimony of Travis Greene. According to the artist, 'Made a Way' was written during an impossible situation. His pregnant wife’s water broke at 21 weeks, when pregnancy normally takes between 37-42 weeks. The doctors said the possibility of the baby’s survival is slim to none, and it was during this period when his wife was on bed rest for two months that he wrote the song. There was nothing else for them to hold on to but faith, and the good news is that as slim as the chance was, it didn’t break because faith held it together and today their baby boy is alive.  When Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’s daughter and news came that things had gone from bad to worse, that the girl was dead. Jesus overheard and said, "Don't be upset. Just trust me

Lessons From the Sons of Sceva

....the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? - Acts 19:15 One funny incident that I read in the  Bible is about the seven sons of Sceva that attempted to use the Name of Jesus to cast out demons. The demons replied them that He knows Jesus and Paul, but who are they? They were given the beating of their life. (Acts 19:11-16) Were they wrong in using the Name of Jesus? No. But truth is they don't know nor understand that Name. They only want to use it selfishly just to get the results that Paul was getting. They thought it was a rocket science. Many at times we believers are like that; We live in sin , we disobey God and when we need something, we want to perform miracles, do signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus which we really belittle or don't value.  Someone once said during a plane turbulence, he saw unbelievers even shouting the name of Jesus. No wonder some folks suffered embarrassment like the sons of Sceva.  When
